A Rustic Barn Wedding at Handsome Hollow

One rainy Saturday morning in August we made our way up to Long Eddy, New York. Steph and Andy were getting married in a quiet glen nestled between the Hudson Valley and the Delaware River Basin at a wedding venue called Handsome Hollow.

The venue was pure magic: 93 acres of fields, meadow, forest and mountain views cradling a beautifully restored 18th century Amish barn with a curtain of string lights fluttering out into the tree line. The rain brought our games indoors up to the lofted area of the barn, which was easily transformed into the ultimate gaming parlor. From this second story you could stand eye level with the twinkling lights swooping from one exposed beam to another, overlooking the entire reception below. The space was large enough to fit a set of cornhole boards in addition to our signature table games and the crowd-favorite, giant Jenga. Wedding guests floated up from the cocktail hour bar on the terrace below to make fast new friends over a game of Four Ball Billiards or Arches. Second matches were set later in the night as guests took breaks from the dance floor. There was no way the rain would put a damper on this party!

Since we spend a quarter of our lives working, that was certainly an area demanding attention. So I left retail and begin my career freelancing for small businesses whose higher purpose transcends profit.

I believe in employing my skills and energy to empower others working to create positive change in our world. I support too-swamped entrepreneurs by breathing life into their brands and websites, allowing them to focus on the important work at hand. At the same time, I get to nurture my own entrepreneurial spirit while being creative and building truly meaningful relationships throughout my community.

I strive to inform, delight and inspire by balancing content with design. I consider the details without losing sight of the big picture. I aim to see around corners while staying focused on the moment. I'm self directed but have over a decade of experience successfully working with teams. And while I've surely got bills to pay, I know it's my social responsibility to be selective about where I put my energy.
