Historic Enchantment at the Senate Garage

Located in the heart of uptown Kingston on North Front Street, and surrounded by a historic state park that once served as the meeting place for the original New York State Senate, the Senate Garage seamlessly blends historic enchantment with industrial chic sensibilities.

The 7,500-square-foot space was originally developed in the 1920s as a parking garage for chauffeur-driven automobiles in Kingston’s bustling Uptown. Today, this fully-renovated building boasts a dramatic open space with polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling exposed brick walls, Edison bulb chandeliers, and a grandiose yet delicate gallery wall of antiqued gold-framed mirrors behind its bar. It’s no wonder that Paula, owner and designer extraordinaire behind Your Event, chose Senate Garage as the venue.

We brought a custom game rental package that included Giant Connect Four, Croquet, Gruyere (the very tall standing maze game), Garden Chess, two of our signature board games Four Ball Billiards and Arches, and our copper pipe arbor with its accompanying neon “Game on!” light to set the scene.

The games were spread out on the back lawn for cocktail hour fun, as well as indoors with a towering white washed brick wall as their backdrop. We couldn’t have envisioned a more elegant setting.

Recently I began taking inventory of my life, recognizing the shifts I could make to lessen my personal consumption and impact. Since we spend a quarter of our lives working, that was certainly an area demanding attention. So I left retail and begin my career freelancing for small businesses whose higher purpose transcends profit.

I believe in employing my skills and energy to empower others working to create positive change in our world. I support too-swamped entrepreneurs by breathing life into their brands and websites, allowing them to focus on the important work at hand. At the same time, I get to nurture my own entrepreneurial spirit while being creative and building truly meaningful relationships throughout my community.

I strive to inform, delight and inspire by balancing content with design. I consider the details without losing sight of the big picture. I aim to see around corners while staying focused on the moment. I'm self directed but have over a decade of experience successfully working with teams. And while I've surely got bills to pay, I know it's my social responsibility to be selective about where I put my energy.
